After his mother's death, Yuri begins a journey to search for his uncle in the North. Along the way he discovers many extraordinary gifts that he has been blessed with, becoming the most powerful gifted human in many years.
He narrowly escapes with his life between clashes with sorcerers of the king and attacks from half-human, half-animal creatures. These adventures introduce him to a new best friend — a dog named Shelp who is far more than he appears.
Yuri never asked to be powerful. He just wants to be a healer, and to teach others to use the gifts he has discovered.
